Rotarians are deeply honoured that our service club received the 2025 ‘Outstanding Community Group’ Award from the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula at their annual Volunteer Appreciation event held at Rotary Hall on Wednesday, April 16th. The award was presented by Mayor Milt McIver to Club President Catherine Henderson. Mayor McIver noted that “For over 71 years, the Rotary Club has been a cornerstone of community service in Northern Bruce Peninsula. With just 22 members, this group has delivered a remarkable range of initiatives, touching nearly every part of life in our community.” After reviewing the wide range of projects and events your local Rotary Club is involved with, Mayor McIver concluded that “This is community service at its finest – multi-generational, deeply involved, and quietly impactful. From education and health care to beautification and celebration, Rotary touches every corner of life in our Municipality. Their legacy is not only their projects, but their people – those who show up, roll up their sleeves, and make good things happen.”

Rotarians strive to meet the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’ through many activities including our four annual community Pancake Breakfasts and tending many bars (our primary fundraisers), to hosting a variety of events at Rotary Hall (including Sunday Coffee Socials, Trivia Nights, Chili Cook-off, Oktoberfest), to our on-going scholarships program to support graduates of Bruce Peninsula District School with their post-secondary studies, and donations for healthcare to Golden Dawn Seniors Home. A more extensive review of what activities your local Rotary Club participated in during the previous year of 2024 can be found on our Club website at https://www.rotarynbp.org/stories/rotary-in-review-2024

Rotarians thank the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula for this award and for their on-going support of Rotary (including contributions towards Rotary’s annual Lion’s Head Santa Claus Parade), along with significant renovations and improvements to Rotary Hall in Lion’s Head – Mayor McIver and Councillors of Municipal Council have demonstrated their commitment to our Club and to Rotary Hall as an important site for community activity. Our success as a local service club is in large measure due to the wonderful support and generosity of the Northern Bruce community, and Rotarians are deeply appreciative of this! By participating in our Rotary Club activities, sponsoring with generous financial support, and volunteering time and effort towards Rotary events and causes, the Northern Bruce community helps our small service club succeed – Thank you for all your help!
