SERVICE – WE ASSIST, NURTURE, SUPPORT

Submitted by Bonnie Warder

Our final meeting until September was held on June 5th at the Swan Lake Legion. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner prepared by the Legion Ladies and our Feather Ruffler, Pauline Flick made the meeting fun by suggesting we dress in Hawaiian theme and play some trivia. I want to take this opportunity to brag because I was the winner!

We had two representatives from Bruce Peninsula Hospice updating us on the Nav-CARE program. If anyone is living with an illness that isolates and overwhelms them at times, they are not alone and the program is designed to address these needs and focus on enhancing their quality of life. Our Club donated $400.00 as our financial contribution for this year and to show our support for this amazing resource.

The members were updated on our past catering events and plans for a couple of summer events were discussed. Although we take a break from regular meetings over July and August, we still have several obligations during that time.

Dannah Oliver performed an induction ceremony and on behalf of your fellow SWANS, we welcome new members Debbie Warder, Amanda Bishop-Ashe and Caroline Woelfle. We are very happy to have you join us.

Member Kelly has been busy creating our float, so look for us in the Lion’s Head Canada Day Parade!

SWANS Support BPDS

June is a busy month at Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) and the SWANS are always proud to help out. Financial support was provided for a trip that will happen for the 4/5 and 5/6 classes, and also the Ottawa trip. A few of us helped the Outers Class do a fundraising dinner by assisting with the preparation of lasagna. The students worked hard to make the remainder of the food, serve and cleanup at the event. Way to go!

Our Club makes a financial presentation at both the Grade 8 & 12 graduations that will be held near the end of June. Congrats to all the graduates and best of luck with your future endeavours.
