Since its repainting in 2012 and the major conservation work done in 2020, Big Tub Light has remained pristine.
Recently vandals have decided to deface it by writing (their?) names on it – and have done so on the Lion’s Head light as well.
Let’s nip this in the bud before it becomes a trend. Clean white shingles are a tempting target for vandals. It would be a lot worse if they use spray paint.
I suggest all of us, as local residents, keep an eye open and report any further episodes, preferably with photos. Then I suggest that our By-Law Enforcement try to track the offenders down – at least one of the names is uncommon and appears in the London phone directory.
The Friends of Bruce District Parks will be posting appropriate signage at Big Tub Light.
