Keep in mind that the annual SOK (Sources of Knowledge) Forum is fast approaching – enjoy the beautiful springtime weather on the Peninsula learning about sustainable tourism! Highlights include a geological hike near Dyers Bay (“Geotourism Live!”) led by local geologist Daryl Cowell; presentations by the North Bruce Sustainable Tourism Action Plan and Implementation Advisory Group, the SON Environment Office, the Niagara Escarpment for Sustainable Tourism, and Longwoods International, all providing valuable insights into sustainable practices and regional growth. GreenStep Solutions will speak to the development of links between tourism destinations and businesses.

Our guest speaker on Saturday Evening will be Tony Pigott, Executive Director of “DEEPTIME: The Georgian Bay Aspiring Geopark”. Tony is focusing on what is required for a new UNESCO Global Geopark to be established in the Georgian Bay region.

Sunday morning will be free to community members and starts with a historical summary of tourism on the Peninsula along with new sustainable tourism initiatives by RT07. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion and tourism presentations by local actors involved in tourism and tourism planning (Escarpment Heights Motel, Summer House Park, The Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association and the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula).
