February the Month for Garden Dreaming
Submitted by Joan Regan
February is the month for Garden dreaming. Time for browsing in my Garden magazines, some are over twenty years old. BUT, a garden is a garden. However, I still enjoy sitting with a second cup of coffee and feeling inspired.
The calendar has changed my garden habits some, however I still have new ideas popping up in my head almost daily. The many, many containers are very obvious this time of the year. Planters that have made it much easier for this old gal, but I do like the look of them come growing season. Many filled with Hostas and other shade loving plants. Also more obvious are the few chairs here and there, some have pots some just for using as a thinking chair.
Perennials love to be potted up as long as they have good drainage, and it sure makes for easier maintenance for this old gal.
A new wheelbarrow was added to the garden last Summer and the old one is now a happy planter joining a few more that have shown up back there. One of the really old ones is now home to a BIG Sum and Substance Hosta, and as long as there is good drainage, all is well. Broken handles, busted wheels all add to their charm. These guys are not going anywhere filled with soil so they stay put. However ???? hmmm…
OK, time for that second cup of coffee and a browse through one of my older gardening magazines. The computer just does not cut it for sitting and browsing at coffee time, I need my comfy chair when it is coffee time.
Happy Armchair Gardening,
Joni
