After a pause during the Pandemic, Tobermory United Church has re-started its Volunteer Driver Program which was first introduced in 2017. The Program is to assist those who require transportation to medical appointments with a Physician, health facility or hospital. This could include diagnostic testing, including hearing and eye tests, or dental needs. This Program serves passengers who live in the area from Tobermory to Miller Lake.
Every effort will be made to accommodate where possible, dependent upon drivers being available. There is no charge to the passenger. Mileage is available to drivers to cover the cost. The Program is funded through donations to the Community Outreach Fund consisting of the four churches in Tobermory.
If you are in need of the outlined type of transportation or need more information, please call Linda Godhue at 519-596-2333.
As the Program re-starts, additional Volunteer Drivers are needed, as some of the drivers who were once available are no longer in the area. If you feel you have time and a vehicle to help with this Program, please call Linda at 519-596-2333.
Brochures with more details about the Program are available at the Tobermory Health Clinic as well as at Tobermory United Church, St. Edmund’s Anglican Church and Light and Life Chapel.
