Things have been topsy-turvy the last few weeks with having to cancel some events and postpone others due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Branch held a ceremony on Monday, September 19 at the Cenotaph to pay our respects.
Unfortunately, our world, or more precisely our country, is not immune to tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone on the James Smith Cree Nation and surrounding area as they try to make sense of the senseless and recover while mourning such a loss in their community.
Also, our prayers go out to our fellow citizens in the Atlantic provinces who are picking up the pieces after hurricane Fiona. They have a long road ahead.
The branch has reopened and here’s hoping that Trivia Night will take place as planned on Friday, October 14 at 7:00 pm. Come on out for some fun and education. If that isn’t your thing then how about attending Pool Night? The inaugural Pool Night will take place on Friday, October 7 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Cost is $2 and is being run by Sean Hurst. Sean hopes that the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month you will join him for some 9 ball. Lastly, Euchre is back. There will be Euchre on Friday, October 28 at 7:00 pm, cost is $5. As you can see there is a lot going on, so don’t sit around at home being bored; get your derriere to the branch.
The Silent Auction for the Inuit wall hangings ended on September 24. The individuals who were the successful bidders are extremely happy with their pieces of art. Thank you to everyone who bid and an enormous thank you to our anonymous donor for the wall hangings; the auction was a success.

Bingo is finished for the season. Thank you to everyone on the Ladies Auxiliary who hosted this event for the past 18 weeks. A well deserved rest is in order.
Upcoming Events
• Meat Draws – every Saturday at 4:30 p.m. All are welcome (ages 19 to 100); come on out and win some meat! Cost is $7.00 for 3 draws, plus the bonus draw.
• Darts for Fun – every Thursday at 7:30 pm. Cost is $2.00 and 10 cents to the duck if you are unlucky or inaccurate (hey, it happens to us all). If darts isn’t your thing, come on out and use the pool table or shuffle board.
• Pool Night – Come on out and shoot some pool on Friday, October 7 and 21. Cost is $2.00, bragging rights are priceless! Anytime from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
• General Membership Meeting – Tuesday, October 11 at 8:00 pm. Come on out and see what the branch is doing or air any concerns you may have.
• Trivia Night – Friday, October 14 at 7:00 pm. Cost is $10/person, proceeds going to the Dunks Bay Memorial Fund. Get a group of 4 or 6 together and put on your thinking cap.
• Euchre – Friday, October 28 at 7:00 pm, cost is $5.00 to play, come on out and join fellow card sharks.
