After two years of more subdued celebrations, families in Pike Bay were back together to continue their annual traditions to celebrate Canada Day.

In the Shipton family, 19 adults and 11 children were finally able to get together to continue their traditions including games, fireworks and a talent show put on by the kids. Unfortunately, three families were unable to make it to Pike Bay, but they are hoping everyone can attend next year.

Due to the pandemic, the past two years have kept them from celebrating all together. “We wanted to start tradition again because it had been so long with Covid since we had all been together. We had a BBQ and potluck supper and were able to all sit together and the kids finally got to play together once again,” explained Carol Service of the Shipton family.

In Pike Bay tradition, the Ready-Moore family also continued their Canada day activities including card games, making smores and watching the beautiful fireworks light up the sky. Emily Burgess of the Ready-Moore family enjoyed celebrating these traditions with her family and also reflected by summing up the day. “Canada Day means being able to celebrate our beautiful country and freedom.”
