Bruce Peninsula O.P.P. Report: Deceased Individual Recovered From Lake Huron

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On June 29, 2022, just after 8:16 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation Police, Saugeen Shores Fire Department, Sauble Beach Fire Department, Grey County Paramedic Services (PS), and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton responded to a report of an individual that had entered the water in Lake Huron.

At approximately 9:50 a.m., an individual was removed from the water. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the individual was pronounced deceased. They have been identified as Robert KLINGBEIL, 50-years-old from Burlington.

The Grey Bruce OPP are continuing to investigate with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME).

MISSING PERSON FROM NEYAASHIINIGMIING FIRST NATION LOCATED

(NEYAASHIINIGMIING FIRST NATION, ON) – On June 14, 2022, the Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation Police, and Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued a release regarding a missing person from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.

That individual has been located and spoken to by police. The Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation Police, and the Grey Bruce OPP would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with this investigation.

POLICE LOOKING TO IDENTIFY THEFT SUSPECT

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On June 20, 2022, at 9:22 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding the theft of a motor vehicle, and personal property from a business on Berford Street in Wiarton.

The suspect is described as male, 25-35 years of age, with some facial hair. They were wearing a black t-shirt, black hat, and blue or black pants. A photo of the suspect is attached.

The outstanding motor vehicle is described as a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, silver in colour bearing Ontario marker CRJN045. The vehicle has two Ukraine flags on both rear windows, and a miniature Pride flag on the driver’s side mirror.

POLICE SEEKING INFORMATION REGARDING BOAT THEFT

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On June 22, 2022, at 9:15 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding the theft of a boat and trailer from Concession 5 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs

The outstanding boat is described as a 13-foot Highfield model OM250 inflatable boat, with a metal hull, a centre console and a grey Yamaha 40 horsepower outboard motor. The vessel is white and grey in colour. The boat’s name is “Last Call” which is written on the rear seat.

The trailer is a galvanized boat trailer with the name BERESFORD on both sides of the frame.

Both the boat and trailer are valued together at approximately $30,000.

GREY BRUCE OPP LAUNCH TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT UNIT

(GREY BRUCE, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are happy to announce the launch of their Traffic Management Unit (TMU), serving both Grey and Bruce Counties.

The TMU is a full-time unit, composed of two Constables and a Sergeant. The purpose of the unit is to enhance roadway safety through proactive enforcement, aid with major collision investigations and provide traffic safety education to members of the public.

The TMU has been kept busy since its launch. Members have participated in several stunt driving investigations resulting in drivers receiving a 14-day vehicle impoundment, 30-day licence suspension, and a provincial court date.

 “This is an exciting time for the Grey Bruce Detachment as we introduce our newly established Traffic Management Unit. These highly trained and dedicated officers will be instrumental in addressing community identified concerns related to traffic safety through high visibility enforcement. The formation of this unit will allow us to better focus our efforts on the unsafe driving practices that continue to take lives on our roadways. The Traffic Management Unit will work in collaboration with the community towards the goal of reducing the number of lives lost and persons injured on Grey Bruce roadways.” – Acting Staff Sergeant Darryl Porterfield

The Grey Bruce OPP and TMU would like to remind members of the public that we all have a part to play in contributing to roadway safety. Drivers are reminded to plan for unexpected delays and abide by traffic laws while travelling to their destinations.

CHARGES LAID AFTER DISTURBANCE AT CAMPGROUND

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On June 21, 2022, at 10:29 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unruly camper at a campground in Northern Bruce Peninsula. 

Police arrived on scene, and the individual was placed under arrest. While being transported back to the Wiarton OPP detachment, the individual caused damaged to a police cruiser.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 21-year-old from Barrie with Mischief – damages or destroys property.

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound later.

INDIVIDUAL CHARGED AFTER STABBING INCIDENT

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On June 24, 2022, at 7:04 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) and Grey County Paramedic Services (PS) responded to a report of a stabbing on Grey Road 1 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Officers arrived on scene and an individual was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The accused individuals fled the scene prior to police arrival but were later taken into custody.

The Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged a 19-year-old from South Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

· Aggravated Assault

· Assault a peace officer with a weapon

· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

· Mischief over $5,000

· Failure to stop after accident

· Dangerous operation

· Flight from peace officer (two counts)

· Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle

· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Also charged are the following individuals:

A 15-year-old male from South Bruce Peninsula:

· Theft of motor vehicle

· Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

A 15-year-old female from Owen Sound:

· Theft of motor vehicle

· Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

 A 14-year-old female from Owen Sound:

· Theft of motor vehicle

· Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused youth cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All three have been released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
