DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER SEVERAL TRAFFIC COMPLAINTS
(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On July 21, 2021 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several traffic complaints regarding a motor vehicle that was passing aggressively and speeding on Highway 6, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
Grey Bruce OPP located and stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.
Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged a 19 year old from Scarborough with the following offences:
-Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, and
-Dangerous Operation.
The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 9, 2021. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 14 days, and their motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On July 10, 2021 at approximately 10 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) came across a vehicle that was stationary on the shoulder of Highway 6, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
A traffic stop was conducted, and during the course of the investigation a driver was arrested. The driver was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.
Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 34 year old from Wasaga Beach with the following offences:
-Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and
-Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 19, 2021.
DRIVER FACING IMPAIRED CHARGE AFTER COLLISION
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On July 10, 2021 at approximately 12:45 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to traffic complaint concerning a possible impaired driver on Sauble Falls Parkway, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Officer arrived on scene and located a motor vehicle that had been involved in a motor vehicle collision. The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.
Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 44 year old from Clinton, Ontario with the following offences:
-Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, and
-Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 12, 2021.
COLLISION RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On July 3, 2021 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint concerning a possible impaired driver on Bannister Drive, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Officer arrived on scene and located a motor vehicle that had been involved in a motor vehicle collision. The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.
Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 54 year old from Sauble Beach, with the following offences:
-Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, and
-Dangerous operation, and
-Fail to remain.
The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 19, 2021.
POLICE URGE BOATERS TO PLAY IT SAFE ON THE WATER
(GREY BRUCE, ON) Since May 1, 2021, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to over 35 marine related calls in Grey Bruce County.
The Grey Bruce OPP urge boaters to play it safe on the water, and obey all marine related laws. These include but are not limited to:
• Wearing a Canadian-approved lifejacket or personal floatation device (PFD)
• Checking the weather conditions/forecast (paddlers should always stick close to shore)
• Boat/paddle sober and drug-free
• Tell people where you are going
• Be cold water aware
• Be mindful of your vessel’s capabilities when deciding where to go boating
• Take a boating course to ensure you are properly licenced, and up to date with the latest marine related knowledge.
The Grey Bruce OPP and our community safety partners remain committed to saving lives on Ontario roads, waterways and trails. Those heading out on the water can expect routine contact with officers checking for marine related compliance. Stay safe, and have a great summer.
FOUR CHARGED WITH STUNT DRIVING IN ONE DAY
(GREY BRUCE, ON) On July 9, 2021 the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into multiple traffic related investigations after motorists were stopped for travelling in excess of posted speed limits, on roadways within Grey Bruce County. As a result of these investigations, the following individuals are facing stunt driving charges:
– A 40 year old from North York, Ontario – stopped for travelling at over 160 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
– A 25 year old from Woodbridge, Ontario – stopped for travelling at over 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
– A 25 year old from Waterdown, Ontario – stopped for travelling at over 135 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
– A 30 year old from Beaverton, Ontario – stopped for travelling at over 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
All accused have had their vehicles impounded for 14 days, and their drivers licence suspended for 7 days. All accused were issued a provincial summons to attend court in Owen Sound.
