LookLocally.ca in collaboration with local merchants is launching an innovative Black Friday Merchant Tour for the weekend of November 26 to November 28, 2021.

Shoppers are invited to look locally this season for their shopping and gift needs. Charlotte Chinn of LookLocally.ca/Rural Brand.guru says “this in-person event is about increasing foot traffic to the local businesses, keeping our holiday shopping local and supporting the businesses that have made it through the past 20 months.” Over 20 businesses from Ferndale, Lion’s Head, Miller Lake, Cape Chin and Tobermory are expected to participate in this event.

She explains “While minds turn to holiday shopping, we hope to focus the mood of this event on supporting and exploring local options, as well as deals and discounts. By using the ‘no purchase necessary’ QR codes system we can offer a fun awareness and engagement event for those who are shopping or those simply exploring.”

Shoppers can view an online map and listings of participating merchants at http://www.looklocally.ca/BlackFriday. By November 14, each online business listing will showcase gifting ideas and Black Friday promotions.

Each Merchant will post a QR code at their store. The shopper can either scan the QR code by using their phone, type in a URL website link or get a paper passport which they can take along to all the stores they visit.

Participating merchants will contribute $20 towards marketing costs as well as sponsor prizes for the shoppers. The planning and administrative services are all volunteer based, headed by Rural Brand guru, Metal Edge Pipeworks and The Digital Dom.

How the Shopping tour will work:

1. Before the Black Friday weekend, access the participating business at http://www.looklocally.ca/BlackFriday and view each listings ‘top gifts’ lists.

2. Make your selections and plan your personal shopping tour for the 3 days starting on November 26.

3. Get out and visit your selected stores between Friday, November 26 and Sunday, November 28. Shoppers are advised to check the individual merchant’s opening hours before going to the stores.

4. When visiting the store, remember to scan each merchant’s QR code for an entry to the prize draw!

Happy Shopping!
