Bruce Peninsula District School’s (BPDS) Elementary Graduation Ceremony was held at the school on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. 

The evening began with a group photo at the lighthouse, followed by ceremony, awards and presentations at the school with Grade 8 teacher Melissa Rosenburg acting as emcee. Presentations included awards for excellence in each subject area and for other aspects of citizenship, plus school letters and diplomas.

Trustee Jane Thomson brought greetings from Bluewater District School Board.

Terra Chayer won the Art award; Excellence in Drama went to Maiya Peacock. Mare Ladner received the English award and Payton Chabot won the French award. The Geography award went to Deven Connolly, the History award to Jaycee Cawthorne. Excellence in Music went to Kaylin McAfee, Excellence in Math to Mason Sherman.  The Phys Ed Awards went to Ben McNair and Jaycee Cawthorne. The final subject award, Excellence in Science, went to Desmond Bernard. 

The CUPE Award went to Brooklyn Myles, Mrs Rosenburg recognized Leonidas Critsotakis with the Growth, Mindset and Perseverance Award. The Mary Cameron Sense of Humour Award went to Connor Veysey. The Leadership Award was presented to Jerzy Quesnel and the UNESCO Global Citizenship Award to Scarlet Whittaker. The Biosphere Award went to Desmond Bernard and the Bruce Power Science Award went to Sebastian Lough. The Bruce County Beef Farmers Award recognized Lane Cameron and the Greatest Improvement Award went to Hudsen Forbes. Caysie Stewart was presented with the Citizenship Award.

Two awards are presented every year for academic excellence. The Scholastic Award went to Jerzy Quesnel and the General Proficiency Award to Ellie Munn.

School Letters were awarded to Ben McNair, Lane Cameron, Mason Sherman and Deven Connolly. Awards of Merit (which include School Letters) went to Ellie Munn, Caysie Stewart, Brooklyn Myles, Jerzy Quesnel and Jaycee Cawthorne.

Caysie Stewart and Jaycee Cawthorne offered a toast to the parents. Valedictorians Jerzy Quesnel and Scarlet Whittaker gently roasted and toasted their classmates.

Melissa Rosenburg brought the ceremony to a close with a toast to the students.

The ceremony was followed by a student dance.
