GREY BRUCE OPP CONDUCT COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE BLITZ

(GREY-BRUCE, ON) – On March 3, 2021 members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a commercial motor vehicle enforcement safety blitz throughout Grey and Bruce counties. Dozens of commercial motor vehicles were checked, resulting in one impaired driving arrest, one driver was charged with an overweight load violation and several warnings were issued.

Reduced load restrictions of five (5) tonnes per axle are now in effect on many Grey County roads, (half load season).

Roads are at their most vulnerable in the spring as frost leaves the ground. Load restrictions help extend the lifespan of the road surface by minimizing damage from heavy vehicles. Depending on weather conditions, restrictions are typically lifted around May 1.
