Letter: Balloons Washing Up On Lake Huron Shoreline

I hope everyone rethinks releasing helium balloons into the skies or any other kind of balloon with string. In the past year we have picked up over 20 balloons and string along the Huron Shore on our property.

These can be ingested by critters like turtles. Or birds can get tangled in the string causing death or injury. There are many photos online of the poor creatures who die or suffer every year.

Don’t release balloons to remember the lives of people because you could be killing a living creature. No one wants that to be their legacy.

Thank you,

Carol Porter
