The Board of Directors at the Bruce Peninsula Family Centre daycare in Lion’s Head hope everyone big and little are staying safe and keeping busy during their time at home.
The safety of our community is top priority, therefore the board has made the difficult decision to postpone the annual Street Dance until the summer of 2021.
Last year, close to 700 people came out to support the daycare and enjoy some great music and food in the fresh air. The Street Dance is a local favourite as it falls on Lion’s Head’s Annual Homecoming Weekend (Civic Holiday weekend); many familiar faces return to celebrate and participate in other weekend events, such as the Lions Club’s Horseshoe Tournament.
The Street Dance is the centre’s number one fundraising event. The proceeds go directly back to the centre, helping to keep childcare costs affordable for working families on the Bruce. Without the fundraising income from events like the annual Taste of India dinner (which was cancelled in April) and the Street Dance, the daycare will need your help more than ever.
How can you help? If you are interested in supporting the daycare you can do so in a few ways:
• Donate! Monetary donations big or small are greatly appreciated. Send donations by email money transfer to bpfcpayments@gmail.com or by mailing a cheque to: Bruce Peninsula Family Centre, 2 Alexander Street, Lion’s Head, ON, N0H 1W0. Be sure to make a note that it is a donation.
• Volunteer! When we are able to operate fundraisers again, we are always in need of community volunteers. Watch for our updates in the Bruce Peninsula Press or follow us on facebook for upcoming events.
• Join the Board! The Board of Directors oversees the management of the centre. New members are always welcome. You do not have to be a parent or member of the centre to be a board member. We encourage anyone who cares about the young people in our community to consider joining the board. For more information on becoming a board member email brucechild@gmail.com
• Buy Stuff! Throughout the year the daycare runs several fundraising programs to support our centre. Elmira Chicken, Epicure, and Chocolate Garden are a few of the popular fundraisers. The daycare receives funding for every item sold and the proceeds go directly back to the centre. It’s a win-win! You get yummy stuff while also supporting the daycare.
