The Fire Chief addressed Council regarding exposure protocol.

THAT Council endorses compensation being provided to Volunteer Fire Fighters should they be exposed to the COVID-19 virus while carrying out their duties in that capacity.

It was noted that the funds are to be allocated in the 2020 Municipal Budget with respect to the pandemic.
Mayor Mclver advised that Cathy Addison, Deputy Clerk, Dr. Jonathan Thomas and himself met on Friday, March 13, 2020 in response to a request from the Peninsula Family Health Team to find a suitable alternate site for assessments away from the Emergency Department at GBHS, Lion’s Head Site. It was noted that testing is available only in Owen Sound at this time. Council was in support of the request.
The Deputy Clerk provided an update on the pandemic matter adding that a press release will be issued before the end of the day.
Discussion ensued regarding Municipal facilities, staffing, availability of public washrooms in Tobermory and Lion’s Head.
Council directed that the Municipal Office be closed to the public once the press release has been issued.

Mayor Mclver advised that Council was moving into Closed Session at 10:10 a.m. pursuant to Section 239(2) of The Municipal Act, 2001, S.O 2001, as amended, for the following reasons: b) personal matters about an identifiable individual including Municipal or local board members, and, d) labour relations or employee negotiations, (Human Resources – Administration Staff, Lion’s Head Marina Staff, and Lion’s Head Campground Staff).
