Lion’s Head, ON (March 24, 2020) – At 9:00 a.m., the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula declared a State of Emergency in accordance with Ontario’s Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is currently working very hard to protect and take precautions for the health and safety of all community members in the Municipality. Declaring a State of Emergency is an important measure in supporting the Province of Ontario and Minister of Health to provide a swift response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“By declaring a State of Emergency, I want the community to understand that we are acting in their best interests and to also ensure that operations within the Municipality will continue to run smoothly,” said Mayor Milt Mclver. “The Municipality is taking the best course of action to protect our most vulnerable citizens. Our emergency declaration is necessary so that community partners across government and industry to co-ordinate emergency response efforts. By declaring a State of Emergency, we will now have access to use the tools available to continue to keep our community safe.”
Declaring a State of Emergency preserves the rights of the municipality for future support related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s decision is the latest step taken by the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
