New Ferry Service Exhibit at St Edmunds Peninsula Museum

Submitted by Rob Davis

The St Edmunds Bruce Peninsula Museum has a new exhibit detailing a history of the Tobermory to Manitoulin Ferry Service from the early 1930s to the present. The exhibit includes photos and a brief history of the six ships that have served this link during this period. The display was researched and prepared by Shirley Johnstone and is an important part of our history.
August was a busy month at the museum. The “Wedding Gown Through the Ages” exhibit was reported on in the last edition of the Press. We also had demonstrations on August 21 by local spinners, weavers, wood carvers and wood turners. The turnout for these demonstrations was great and we are grateful to those who came to share their skills.
The museum is now open on weekends only and will close for the season on October 13 (Thanksgiving Sunday).
There is lots to see at the museum so please take the time to pay us a visit.
