The Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday May 30th at 7:30 pm at the Rotary Hall, 59 Main Street, Lion’s Head. All are welcome! This year’s meeting will feature two presentations describing the results from our research projects in 2018.
Dr. Jaclyn Cockburn from the Department of Geography, Environment, and Geomatics at the University of Guelph will talk about landscape history interpreted from the sediments of Little Lake in her presentation: Looking back to see forward: How paleolimnology can inform environmental management.
Dr. Bulent Mutus from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor will speak about the testing of a unique biofiltration unit he designed to remove phosphate from agricultural wastewater and improve water quality. His presentation: Going to the Roots- A way to Mediate Nutrients in Wastewater.
Come hear about our project results from 2018, our exciting plans for the year ahead, and help us celebrate the achievements of the first full year of EcoAdventures.
This is a great opportunity to ask questions, meet with board members and staff, and see what lies ahead in the coming year for the Biosphere Association. Consider joining us in fostering conservation and sustainable development. Help us build the community capacity to protect our Bruce Peninsula!
We are also seeking people interested in serving on our Board of Directors. The Board is designed to be representative of the community geographically, by economic sector, skill sets and age distribution. Board meetings are held once a month, and members are encouraged to participate in one committee of the Board. Terms are for two years. If you are interested in serving please contact Elizabeth Thorn at elizabeth@thorn.ca
