The Lion’s Head & District Curling Club team curling started on October 29, 2018 and ended March 11, 2019. We curled on Monday nights from 7pm to 9pm with a snack and social time after the game. There were 4 draws with roughly 35 people participating per draw.
We had three Bonspiels this year. January 5th was the Rona Bonspiel, CRC Construction sponsored the February 9th Bonspiel and the Lioness Bonspiel was March 2nd. These were well attended with 10 teams participating at each Bonspiel.
Each team played two – 8 end games and were treated to lunch, excellent prizes and a lot of fun. We are very grateful to these sponsors who add so much to our enjoyment of curling.
A Learn to Curl Night is held each year on the first curling night in October. This is a free night when the community is invited to come out and explore the game of curling and be encouraged to sign up for the season or a draw.
We had a Christmas Party in December and a Wrap up Party and AGM in March. We were pleased to welcome some new young curlers and some new retirees to the game of curling. Our oldest curler this year was 82 and the youngest was 12!
Thanks to Ted Hayes for graciously permitting the use of his property to display our curling sign throughout the season. This helped publicize our activities and awareness that curling is alive and well in North Bruce.
