It is a new year … and we have a new name … Venus Community Cats.

On Monday, February 23, 2026 at 5:00pm little Lollipop, the last Venus kitten available, was adopted. It was a milestone; felt like an ending and yet a beginning. Our efforts are expanding, shifting out to help others in an effort to control the population growth of community cats on the Bruce Peninsula.

But first, let me tell you about Buttercup’s Kittens. This is a small colony of about ten very young cats on the Northern Bruce Peninsula … some of them just older kittens. It is a familiar story, the individual caring for them became seriously ill not able to return to their home and now this group of cats is homeless.

We are working on domesticating this small colony, getting them to the neuter spay clinic. Our urgent need is for foster homes once they are fixed. These cats cannot return to where they have been living under an unheated porch. If you are interested in fostering a few of Buttercup’s kittens please e-mail livick@eastlink.ca or call landline 519-793-3055.

Donations of food, litter, bedding can continue to be dropped off at Peninsula Pet Supplies, 2826 Hwy 6 in Ferndale (tell them it is for the Venus Community Cats, Buttercup’s Kittens).

Once the cats are fostered we will start the process of finding their forever homes.
