The community is definitely moving into the fall/winter mode and that includes more interest and options for re-connecting or connecting for the first time with The Meeting Place Tobermory (TMP).

If you have not tried the Good to Go Meal Kit Program now is the time. Weekly meal kits can be ordered family size and seniors’ size. These tasty meal kits are prepared by our knowledgeable staff and ready for you to cook at home in quick time. There is a lot of emphasis now on good food for children and affordability and both are part of the ‘pay what you can’ weekly meal kit program.

Many local residents are not aware the TMP has a Community Gym with some favourite fitness equipment ready to use. The Gym has just expanded its hours to include Tuesday evenings 6-8pm (not the Open Mic night – 2nd Tuesday of the month) and Saturday mornings 9-11am. This is in addition to daytime on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Staff and dedicated volunteers are available on site for safety and any new “members” need to first sign a waiver and agree to the gym use terms. This is a hidden gem at the TMP.

SOAR afterschool program for children, ages Senior Kindergarten to Grade 3 is starting Tuesday, November 17, 3:10 – 4:30pm at The Meeting Place. This is one of the longest running programs at TMP and each year presents a new active play experience for children. Registration packages are going out through the school and also available from Sara at TMP at info@tobermorymeetingplace.com. There is no cost for the weekly program that runs right through to spring.

Much-loved Open Mic at TMP starts up Tuesday November 10, 7-9pm. Musicians and audiences are welcome. Free coffee and refreshments round out this great social venue. All supported by volunteers.

Running out of room here, but one last item. TMP is hosting a drop-in Open House in the first two weeks of November, specifically, on November 3, 4 and 5 and 10, 11. Residents are welcome to drop in for a few minutes on these days. Sara, our Community Coordinator, will be available to provide more information on ‘what we do’ and a tour.

Community groups are welcome to book meeting space at TMP. Wifi, kitchen and a variety of rooms are available at no cost. All information on programs, services and rental space can be requested through info@tobermorymeetingplace.com.
