Progress? Or same old, same old?
Upon reviewing the 2022 Election Profiles from #15 September 13 to October 4 issue of the Bruce Peninsula Press, what has been accomplished to the benefit of our municipality?
Our incumbent mayor, Milt McIver’s platform listed ‘tourism as our main economic driver’ with Paid Parking and MAT Tax being a municipal revenue source.
Followed by supporting the balance between business community and residents was mentioned.
Advocacy for Cell Service and Broadband capability was next.
Consider the Attainable Housing Report and Climate Action Plan, Invasive Species Action Plan, Recreation Review followed.
Our incumbent, Deputy Mayor’s platform suggests continuation of the water and sewer system, engineering and costing.
Our incumbent, Todd Dowd suggests “making our community a better place to live’, no specific initiatives.
Our incumbent, Laurie (Smokey) Golden refers to her involvement on Safe Communities committee, Sustainable Tourism Advisory Group, National Park Advisory and Attainable Housing Committee.
Please ask what has been accomplished in these areas at upcoming All Candidates meetings.
More than ever each of us needs to be aware, take an interest and get out and vote for who you see is preparing our beautiful municipality for a sustainable and enjoyable future.
