After a busy, blazing hot summer August has begun ushering in hints of autumnal temperatures. For some that means a new school year, for others the return to normal work schedules and for some blessed relief from the heat. Regardless, we do know that September is traditionally a time for new beginnings.

With that in mind the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary will be holding its annual Fall Clothing Drive on Saturday, September 12.

We’ve bumped it up a bit this year so that our cottagers and seasonal residents can go through their clothing and linens and donate what they no longer have a need for to a worthy cause, keeping health care local. Better to donate it than packing it up and transporting it all the way home.

Keep in mind that those donations get double the ‘bang for the buck’ in that they help raise funds for the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary for badly needed equipment for our local hospital and the Kidney Foundation to raise funds for their cause.

Basically, we’ll accept clothing, belts and accessories (like mittens, gloves, hats, scarves), shoes and boots, and even jewelry. If you can wear it we’ll take it. We also accept linens such as towels, sheets, bedding, drapery and fabrics. Please be sure to deliver your donations in garbage bags. Think of your and our backs and try not to overload them. In this case more bags is better than fewer bags.

Finally, the Clothing Drive is Saturday, September 12th from 9:00 a.m. until noon, at 22 Hayes Drive, Storage Unit 17 in Lion’s Head. For those without GPS or Google Maps that is near the arena; coming off Main Street onto Hayes it is the second drive on your right. Thank you for thinking of the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary and know that every dollar raised goes toward the equipment needs of our local hospital.

See you September 12th.
