It’s hard to believe we have reached the final meeting for the 1st half of 2026 and it’s time for the summer break from regular meetings of the SWANS but it is and our agenda for the June meeting was very full. Reports from the events held in May were discussed and tabled for future consideration. Our list for upcoming events is long, so the SWANS will be busy for the remainder of the year. We look forward to all events because, seriously, getting together is fun!

Sarah Hamilton and Connie Tackaberry made our donation to Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) for the Annual Footprints Conference. This is a 3-day event held at Bruce Peninsula National Park for the Secondary students, engaging them in outdoor stewardship. This important activity relies on donations from the community and SWANS are very happy to contribute $1,000.00 toward the expenses.

On another note, with respect to our wonderful local school, we want to congratulate Connie Tackaberry for being recognized for her endless volunteerism to support our students at BPDS. This is a very deserved honour and the SWANS want to say thanks to Connie.

Treasurer Bev Miller made our donation to the “Checkerboard Challenge” of $1,000.00. This is a great fundraiser for Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation and we wish them all the best and also thank the community for their support in “Keeping Healthcare Close to Home”.

Dannah Oliver performed the induction of another new member. We welcome Jannette Allen to SWANS and she has already been helping out at events!

Thanks for your continued support at our fundraisers and if anyone is looking for a great way to volunteer in the community, please consider joining SWANS. Further information is available by contacting Roberta Mielhausen at 519-374-4110.
