May 9, 2025 – SOUTHAMPTON, ON — The Rotary Huron Shore Run returns on Saturday, May 31, 2025, bringing together runners, walkers, volunteers, and supporters along the Lake Huron shoreline for an energizing morning focused on community and impact. Since 1988, the Rotary Huron Shore Run has funded local health and youth programs, establishing a lasting legacy of support across Saugeen Shores.
This year’s event offers a variety of distances, including a 5K run/walk, a 10K run, and a new, flatter waterfront 21.1K half marathon. Families can also enjoy the free Kids Fun Run. All events start on High Street in Southampton and follow a scenic route south toward Port Elgin, before looping back to Southampton.
Proceeds from the 2025 event will support the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, with funds directed toward Brightshores Health System’s investment in an Automated Dispensing Unit (ADU). These advanced medication systems enhance patient safety and streamline care by enabling nurses to access medications quickly and accurately, especially in emergencies. The result is faster, safer care for patients.
The Huron Shore Run also fuels local programs that strengthen community well-being and youth development. This year, additional funds will benefit the Saugeen Track and Field Club, Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club, Breakers Swim Team, the Chantry Seniors Centre, and the Rotary Clubs of Southampton, Port Elgin, and Saugeen Shores—all of which play essential roles in building a vibrant, active community.
Since its founding in 1988, the Rotary Huron Shore Run has become a fixture on the Lake Huron shoreline, drawing participants from across Ontario and building a legacy of local support. From the cheers on High Street to the finish line moments that define race day, every stride makes a difference.
Sanctioned by Athletics Ontario, the Rotary Huron Shore Run continues to attract runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. In-person registration and bib pick-up will take place at the Southampton Coliseum on Friday, May 30, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Race day kicks off early Saturday morning, with events scheduled throughout the morning and an awards celebration to follow.
Get Involved Volunteers make everything possible. Those who are interested in helping can sign up at www.huronshorerun.com/volunteer and will receive a free Rotary Huron Shore Run technical tee as a thank-you.
