Bruce Peninsula O.P.P. Report: Weapons Complaint In Wiarton

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Three individuals are facing charges after a weapons complaint in Wiarton.

On November 18, 2024, at 11:20 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a weapons complaint from a business on Berford Street in Wiarton in South Bruce Peninsula. 

It is reported that three intoxicated individuals entered a business in Wiarton, and it was believed one individual might have a rifle sticking out of their bag. Police located the individuals a short distance away.

A 39-year-old of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with the following:

· Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

· Carrying concealed weapon

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm

· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

· Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

· Possessing counterfeit money – have in custody

· Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking

· Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine

· Breach of recognizance

· Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (six counts)

A 54-year-old of the Municipality of Meaford was charged with the following:

· Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

· Carrying concealed weapon

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm

· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

· Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

· Possessing counterfeit money – have in custody

· Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking

· Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (three counts)

A 34-year-old of Haldiman County was charged with the following:

· Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

· Carrying concealed weapon

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm

· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

· Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

· Possessing counterfeit money – have in custody

· Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking

· Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (three counts)

· Fail to comply with probation order

The accused parties were held pending a bail hearing.

A GOOD SAMARITAN REPORTS TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – One individual is facing impaired driving charges after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint.

On November 19, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a traffic complaint of an impaired driver on Bruce Street in South Bruce Peninsula. The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was presented to a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

A 48-years-old, of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

· Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 19, 2024.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
