Letter: Could Rovers Property/Buildings Be Used To Its Full Potential?

615

April 22, 2024 – As I enjoy a sunny Earth Day, I am taking a few minutes to write to our community of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

This spring I have had the opportunity to walk to Driftwood Cove and viewed the outside of the buildings, known as the Rovers Property. The three solid brick buildings, built in 1993 as per the cornerstone, sit quiet, under utilized and in need of some repair.

After attending the Sources of Knowledge presentation featuring a presentation on Sustainable Tourism on April 4th, I ask myself why a beautiful location like this sits dormant.

In this day and age where assets are few, money is scarce, it makes sense to me to get this property used to its full potential instead of building more buildings.  Hikers/walkers and cyclists could benefit from this location for rest areas or overnight lodging.

Would others like to investigate options with the Bruce Trail Conservancy, Parks Canada, BPEG, SON and any other organizations, please contact me at karenjphillips65@gmail.com
