McINTYRE, Millie – We are sad to announce the passing of Millie McIntyre of Barrow Bay, Ontario. She died on July 10th, 2023 at the age of 87 surrounded by family after a short illness. The world became brighter on May 14th, 1936 when Millie was born on a farm in Banner near Dorchester, ON. Growing up in the country, she was interested in the operations of dairy farming, cooking for others and the natural world. Millie was a loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, aunt, grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She lived a full life with energy that involved family, working, volunteering and travel. She was an enthusiastic naturalist and enjoyed the forest wildlife, flora, and was a knowledgeable birder. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when she was needed. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of her community. Millie volunteered at the public school with their nutrition program and at the Golden Dawn in Lion’s Head reading to seniors, while also generously helping out with meals at the Legion and the United Church. She will leave a huge gap in her community and will be sorely missed. To honour Millie, we are holding a celebration of life on September 9th at 1:00 PM at the Lion’s Head United Church. We invite anyone who knew Mille to attend and remember her wonderful life. We ask attendees to dress casually and wear bright colours to celebrate Millie’s joy, optimism and spirit.
