Peninsula Swans were happy to assist an Ontario family who generously welcomed a Ukrainian family to Canada. Kevin and Liana Smith own a cottage in Barrow Bay and kindly made room for the new couple and their two children to live in their home in Western Ontario, close to Michigan. Kevin and Liana have sent a letter of thanks to the Swans for providing a donation of $400 to help the cause.
Below, is the charming letter that we Swans wish to share with our community, and which shows our community is always here to help.
Our names are Kevin and Liana and we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your very generous donation to support our Ukrainian family (Dmyto, Olena, Yaraslov (10 yrs), and Anastasiia (6 yrs)).
We welcomed them into our family April 28, 2022 and truthfully didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into aside from knowing that we wanted to do whatever we could to help a family fleeing the War in Ukraine. The experience thus far has been rewarding, challenging, and a healthy dose of gratitude for all of us.
I just wanted to send a message (with a few photos attached) to let you know how helpful your donation will be in helping this family set some roots in a safe place away from the War. We are committed to hosting them and helping them and we truly couldn’t do it without kind and supportive people like yourself.
