The Dawn Light also attends Midland’s TugFest event. What makes his choice of the Dawn Light even more special is that his grandfather, Dan Welsh, is the owner of the historic tugboat.

Today, Canyon had the chance to show his grandfather his painting for the first time, with the Dawn Light serving as a fitting background. This was Canyon’s first painting, having previously only worked with drawing materials, and he did an amazing job!

The Town of Midland is very pleased to include this mural in our public art collection.

Editor’s Note: The Dawn Light spends most of its summers docked in Little Tub Harbour, Tobermory, and has a rich history in the area. Currently in Midland awaiting lift facilities, she is scheduled to return to Tobermory at the end of May.
