The ongoing covid pandemic and latest omicron variant continue to make it difficult for Rotary and other service organizations to raise funds for community projects through events and activities. Since March 2020, our Rotary Club has been limited or restricted from holding traditional fundraisers, including our pancake breakfasts during holiday weekends from spring to fall, or Rotary bars for community events such as Curling Bonspiels held at Lion’s Head Arena. We do hope to return to our normal fundraising activities in the not-too-distant future, but in the meantime, we are excited to announce the second annual …

Green No Dinner Dinner Fundraiser for Rotary Scholarships

Our Green No Dinner Dinner Fundraiser is a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and to raise funds for our annual Scholarships program to support graduating high school students from Bruce Peninsula District School in pursuing their post-secondary education goals. For over half a century, our Rotary Club has awarded a series of scholarships to graduating students to pursue post-secondary studies in university, college or trades/apprenticeship post-secondary programs, awarding $4,500 annually in recent years.

For $15.00 each, you can purchase one or more ‘spots’ at our Green No Dinner Dinner and your name will be entered with each spot to be eligible for our random draw for a number of great door prizes! Follow us on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/LionsheadRotaryClub/) to view door prize descriptions and photos, and for more details about our fundraiser for Rotary Scholarships.

Dinner ‘spots’ can be purchased by sending an e-transfer to our Treasurer to our Club e-mail address of nbprotary@gmail.com or if you prefer you can send a cheque to our mailing address: Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula, Box 305, Lion’s Head, Ontario, N0H 1W0. Whether paying by e-transfer or cheque, please be sure to clearly indicate your name, address and contact telephone number for each ‘spot’ you purchase!

On St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17th, you’ll have your own dinner at home that evening, whether it be corned beef & cabbage, Irish stew or seafood chowder with soda bread, or whatever else you prefer. Don’t forget to dress in GREEN! We will draw for door prizes at 7:00 PM on St. Patrick’s Day, and announce winners on our facebook page, as well as the total amount raised for Rotary Scholarships! We will then be in contact with each of our door prize winners to make arrangements for prize pick up. We hope you will support this Rotary fundraising project to help us continue to award scholarships to local high school graduates to pursue their post-secondary studies. We thank you in advance!

Rotary Contributes to Keith Hopkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund

For many years, our Rotary Club has made ‘in memoriam’ donations to the Keith Hopkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund in the names of Rotarians and Friends of Rotary who have passed away.

In 2021, our Club made contributions in memory of Helen McIntyre, John Baker, Barb Scott, Les Csengeri, Tim Lamond, Gertie Purdy and Ed Ciprick.

Since 2018, our Club has also made donations in memory of Roy White, Charlie Brough, Florence Lemcke and Eric Bray.

Our Rotary Club would welcome any donations to the Keith Hopkinson Memorial or any of our other annual scholarships. However, our Rotary Club is not formally registered as a ‘charitable organization’ with Canada Revenue Agency and therefore we cannot issue charitable donation receipts for any donations received. If you would like to donate directly to one of our Rotary scholarships, talk to any Rotarian or send a message to our Club e-mail address.
