January 27, 2022 – Walkerton, Ontario: Bruce County is now accepting applications for this year’s Summer Company program. The program is a partnership between the County and the Province that provides up to $3,000 in summer business start-up funding to four successful student applicants. Students ages 15 to 29 are eligible.

“We have had a lot of amazing students start some very interesting businesses last year, including a digital media artist that specializes in cultural diversity and a sticker production company that had biodegradable and recyclable products. They were able to pivot their business plans to create sustainable online companies,” says Warden Janice Jackson.

The Summer Company program deadline for most applications is May 23, 2022. To register and connect with staff visit the Summer Company eligibility page. A team member from the Bruce County Economic Development Business to Bruce program will connect with applicants and will help them with their online application, which includes a business plan and cash flow projections.

“Our team will provide information and assistance to students who are interested in the program, and they’ll work together to develop a business plan and marketing materials. We’re looking forward to mentoring and helping our next generation of entrepreneurs and business owners,” said Bruce County Director of Planning and Development, Mark Paoli.

All applications will be reviewed and applicants may be contacted for an interview before being approved for the program.
