Service; We Assist; Nurture; Support

Submitted by Shirley Teasdale

“While it has been some months since Lioness Clubs have been disbanded, President Jane Clayton, who had been President of our local Lioness Club, and a small number of Executive members have been working towards finding ways to determine how our new S.W.A.N.S club will function. Our S.W.A.N.S club is an acronym for Service; We Assist; Nurture; Support. And that is exactly what we will be doing as the club moves along.

Basically, we are the same organization that we had when we belonged to the Lioness Club. We will still do community fundraising and, hopefully, will soon meet every first Wednesday of each month, except for a short break in mid-summer. We are hoping to have our first club meeting possibly in November.

At the end of this month we expect to do a roadside cleanup on a portion of Highway 6, and also to run a Bonspiel in November or December. More events will take place soon. Please watch for our new community sign that will soon be placed in Lion’s Head. The new sign shows a black Swan on a white background.

For any one who may be interesting in joining our new club, please contact Roberta Mielhausen at 519-374-4110.
