Bruce Peninsula OPP Report: Stunt Drivers Charged

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On May 22, 2021 at 4:45 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver of a motor vehicle for excessive speeding on Highway 6, near Lawrence Road, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Grey Bruce OPP clocked this vehicle on RADAR at over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 30 year old from Richmond Hill with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

ANOTHER STUNT DRIVER CHARGED ON THE BRUCE PENINSULA

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On May 22, 2021 at 2:46 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver of a motor vehicle for excessive speeding on Highway 6, near Limberlost Road, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Grey Bruce OPP clocked this vehicle on RADAR at over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 26 year old from Thorold with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

IMPAIRED DRIVER GOT STUCK IN THE SAND AT SAUBLE BEACH

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 20th, 2021 at 8:53 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor that was stuck on some rocks in the sand on Sauble Beach, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. 

OPP officers arrested the vehicle driver for impaired driving. A breath test recorded readings over twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 19 year old from South Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

-Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

-Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC

-Obstruct Peace Officer, section 129(a) CCC

-Novice driver, blood alcohol concentration (B.A.C.) above zero, section 44.1(3) Highway Traffic Act

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 24, 2021.

CHARGE LAID IN HEPWORTH

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On May 16, 2021 at 12:54 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP were called for a suspicious person occurrence at a residence on Queen Street West, in Hepworth, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. 

Officers attended and spoke with all of the involved parties.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 64 year old of no fixed address, with unlawfully being in a dwelling house, section 349(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

 The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 17, 2021.
