Bruce Peninsula OPP Report: Stunt Driver Removed From Road

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On April 14, 2021 at 6:26 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint involving a motor vehicle travelling at a very high rate of speed on Highway 6, near Lawrence Road, in Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Grey Bruce OPP located and stopped this vehicle, that was clocked on RADAR travelling over 145 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 32 year old from Etobicoke, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA). 

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

IMPAIRED DRIVER CRASHES IN GEORGIAN BLUFFS

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On April 24, 2021 at 7:14 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Grey Road 1, near Bruce Caves Road, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. 

A driver had lost control of their vehicle, collided with the guard rails and came to rest in a ditch. OPP officers spoke with the driver, who was arrested for impaired driving, after they failed a roadside screening test. A breath test recorded readings over three (3) times the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 50 year old from Barrie with the following offences:

-Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

-Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 3, 2021.

EARLY MORNING STUNT DRIVER CHARGED – Slow Down and Drive Safe

 (GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On April 20, 2021 at 7:26 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrols, when an officer observed a motor vehicle travelling in excess of the posted limit on Concession 5 D, near Grey Road 18, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Grey Bruce OPP stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 19 year old from Brockton, with Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, along with a seven-day driver’s licence suspension. The individual’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

PROHIBITED DRIVER REMOVED FROM THE ROADWAY

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On April 13, 2021 at 9:54 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Sideroad 15 near Spring Creek Road in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 29 year old from South Bruce Peninsula, ON with operation while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 10, 2021.
