Letter: High Parking Fees Subsidizing Bus Service a Viable Alternative

36

Several letters and articles in the August 11-25, 2020 issue related to the twin problems of crowding and parking in North Bruce. High parking fees for non-residents with enforcement (offenders to be towed) is a partial solution, but would work better if visitors had a viable alternative.

High parking fees that subsidized a convenient bus service might work better. What about a bus service from Wiarton to Tobermory that ran frequently during the tourist season with stops at a few key locations along the peninsula? Faced with a $50.00 per day parking fee versus a $5.00 bus fare (with subsidies for families), many tourists might opt for the latter.

Perhaps Parks Canada would be interested in participating.
