Grey-Bruce OPP Report: Unlicenced Driver Removed From The Road

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On February 22, 2020 at 9:23 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a (blue) pick-up truck speeding more than 35 kilometres an hour (km/h) over the posted speed limit of 80 km/h on Highway 6, north of Hepworth in Bruce County. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to be operating the vehicle without a driver’s licence as well as committing several other provincial offences.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver of the pick-up truck, a 22 year old from Northern Bruce Peninsula, with the following offences: 

-Speeding, section 128 Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

-Drive motor vehicle with no licence, section 32(1) HTA

-Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, section 7(5)(a) HTA

-Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, section 11(2) HTA

-Operate unsafe vehicle, section 84(1) HTA

-Use plate not authorized for vehicle, section 12(1)(d) HTA

-Novice driver with Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero, section 44.1(3) HTA

-Owner operate motor vehicle on a Highway with no insurance, section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED, ALLENFORD

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On February 20, 2020 at 10:43 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a (black) pick-up truck travelling westbound on Highway 21 near Allenford Road, South Bruce Peninsula in Bruce County. The officer observed the truck swerving into oncoming traffic and stopped the motor vehicle. The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton for a breath test. The results of the breath test were twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

A 21 year old, from South Bruce Peninsula has been charged with the following:

-Operation of motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

-Operation of motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

-Young driver with Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero, section 44.1(5) Highway Traffic Act

-Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act

The accused has been released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 5, 2020.

GREY BRUCE OPP STOP STOLEN VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY 6

Driver and Passenger Arrested and Charged

 (SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On February 16, 2020 at 4:49 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a (black) car being driven erratically and speeding northbound on Bruce Road 10. OPP officers stopped the car on Highway 6, north of Wiarton, Bruce County. 

The stopped vehicle was found to be stolen from Hanover. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested at the scene by OPP officers. 

The 23 year old driver from Hanover was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, section 333.1 Criminal Code of Canada (CC), Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, section 355(a) CC and Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC.

The 35 year old passenger from Hanover was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, section 333.1 Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 section 355(a) CC.

The two accused were released on Undertakings to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 12, 2020.
