Northern Peninsula CoWork Space (NP CoWork) has been operating out of the Rotary Hall in Lion’s Head as a pilot project since November 2018, with a mission of creating opportunities for working and living well on the Bruce Peninsula. We have collected data and the project is a great success! An amazing cross-section of the community (and those from further afield) have been accessing the space to use the WIFI, printer, collaborate on projects, enjoy great coffee, socialize, and use our new Jobs Skills Board (looking for work/to hire? Come on in!).

Here’s a look at the numbers from our first 10 months:

-open 120 days

-134 unique visitors (839 total visits)

-a total of 1911 hours spent coworking

-an average of 2.56 hours per person

-The month with the most visitors was August – so thanks to all for coming in!

Based on these figures, we have received council approval to continue the project, and NP CoWork’s second year is set to launch in November with a $5/day, $20/month or $200/year membership program, with more hours and more opportunities for growth (and we could use your help).

NP CoWork is currently open 10am-7pm on Tuesday, and 10am-4pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We intend to open on Mondays starting in November as well, but we need a couple more volunteers to welcome people at the desk, make coffee, and maintain a comfortable space. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Susan King (susanannking@gmail.com, 519-793-3686) or stop by the hall during open hours to see what we are all about. Volunteering is a great way to get out in the winter and make new connections, so come participate in our welcoming CoWorking community – we have a lot of ideas about where this project might go!

Lastly, here are some upcoming NP CoWork community events:

• The first NP CoWork Potluck Fundraiser is coming up on November 11th at 6pm at the Rotary Hall. Bring your favourite dish and donate to Community Food Centres Canada to give low-income Canadians better access to healthy food and programs that change lives. The event is part of a cross-Canada food party called the Big Social (bigsocial.ca).

• If you want to get more involved with NP CoWork come by our next NP Potluck planning and committee meeting on November 28th at 6pm at NP CoWork.

• And save the date for the NP CoWork Holiday Party on December 14th. Local community DJs, dancing, and much more festive fun for all!
