Hooked on the Bruce, the local branch of the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild, will display rugs, wall hangings, pillows and more at the Anglican Church Hall, Main Street, Lion’s Head, on August 3rd, from 11:00am – 3:00pm.
Energetic, active local members will show their recent works. Browse the display of 30-40 pieces, watch hooking demonstrations, and try your hand at rug hooking in an interactive setting with experienced rug hookers. Plus, sit and enjoy home-baked goods with a tea, coffee and other beverages offered by the Anglican Church Women, by donation.
The hand-hooked pieces are traditional and modern expressions of art. Century-old patterns have come down through the years when housewives used worn out shirts, skirts, blankets, etc. to hook rugs often used as additional warmth for their homes. Today, patterns are also contemporary, be they landscapes, geometrics, abstracts, hooked from patterns or original, personal creations. All displays of glorious colour.
Free to the public. All welcome.
