Letter: Important Information For ATV Riders

564

Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) snowmobile trails are not approved for use by ATVs unless a local ATV club has obtained separate landowner permission and the trail is signed as an ATV trail.
There are NO APPROVED ATV TRAILS north of Lindsay Rd 5 in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
ATVs are permitted on unassumed (not maintained) road allowances in the municipality, but the majority of these road allowances lead to private property or Parks Canada property.
It is the responsibility of the ATV rider to know where they are riding. Trespassing charges can be laid if the rider is caught on private property, or on Parks Canada property.
One of the biggest reasons for the loss of OFSC snowmobile trail landowner permission is trespassing by ATVs.
The snowmobile trail exists because of the generosity of landowners, THANK YOU LANDOWNERS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
The Tobermory Snowmobile Club and Central Peninsula Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club respectfully ask that ATV riders stay off any snowmobile trail that is not approved and signed as an ATV trail.
Sincerely,
Harvey Rintoul, Interim President – Tobermory Snowmobile Club
Tom McAfee, Vice-President – Tobermory Snowmobile Club
Jim Sauve, President – Central Peninsula Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club
