Peacefully, on August 9th, 2026, with her family by her side, Barbara Anne Mansfield (nee Wozney) passed away in her 74th year at the Georgetown Hospital. Loving wife of Michael Mansfield, mother of Ryan & Rosanne, Timothy & Jackie, Michael & Lori and Andrew & Jessie. Cherished grandmother / Baba of Lauren & Sullivan, Olivia, Abigail & Jacob, Danielle & Michael and Evelyn & Benjamin. Beloved sister-in-law and cousin, and proud aunt and great-aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Helen (nee Popowich) Wozney, her brother Bill, sister Betty, sister-in-law Bonnie and her aunts and uncles. Born April 26th, 1953 in East York, Toronto, Barbara grew up near Port Perry where her father was a machinist who owned and operated his own small business. She grew up next door to her mother’s family, on lots severed off from her grandparents’ farm. Barbara attended and graduated from the University of Western Ontario in London with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She obtained employment with the Durham Regional Health Unit as a Public Health Nurse, a role she remained in until she made the decision to stay at home to raise her growing family. Barbara met her husband, Michael, while attending high school in Port Perry but they began their relationship during their shared time at the University of Western Ontario, first while travelling back and forth on the train to London. Married in 1977, they began raising their family in Bowmanville, eventually moving to Courtice and ultimately settling in Georgetown. Barbara was a loving, proud and dedicated mother to her children and was involved in every aspect of their lives. Through this involvement and the upbringing she provided, her children today are a testament to the love, care and commitment she bestowed upon them. Barbara was also a faithful servant of God and espoused this through her commitment to her church, St. John’s Anglican, Stewarttown. She served in many different roles as a parishioner, Sunday School teacher, Warden and Bible Study leader. She was also a dedicated community member volunteering with many different local organizations and loved gardening. Finally, her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She cherished each of them and the time spent together during many family gatherings, special occasions and shared time at the family cottage in Lion’s Head. Barbara’s life epitomized the importance of family, faith and love. May the example she provided continue to live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends, and all who knew her. A funeral service and celebration of Barbara’s life was conducted at St. Stephen’s Hornby Anglican Church on Saturday, August 15th, 2026 at 2 pm with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A private interment will follow at a later date at Eastnor Cemetery in Lion’s Head. Expressions of remembrance can be made to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation.
