I live adjacent to Devil’s Glen Provincial Park (near Collingwood) and we have been suffering the same fate as Moore Street residences at the hands of unregulated rock climbing.
It is not permitted in the park, but it is managed with a “Blind Eye” by Parks Ontario. This has led to overdevelopment of Rock Climbing routes (almost 200, and in a way smaller area than Lion’s Head), trespassing, illegal fires and camping, excessive fecal matter (humans and dogs…. mainly human), litter, overcrowding, parking issues, etc…
The people of Lion’s Head and Devil’s Glen need to know that instead of removing the illegal (and environmentally harmful activity) Ontario Parks is rewriting policy to try and accommodate this particular user group.
The people of Lion’s Head (Moore Street in particular) and Devil’s Glen need to unite and be part of these discussions and development of new policy.
