We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dad on Dec. 25th, 2024, in his 86th year. He was born and raised in Lion’s Head, Ontario, and later moved to Burlington where he lived for 64 years. Elmer is one of 9 children born to Herb and Belle Bridge. He was married to Carmen and is the much-loved and devoted father to Brad (deceased), to Sheri, and to David, and father-in-law to Mark and to Debra (deceased). He is the absolute best Grampa of Kevin, Deanna, Sean, Amanda and Joshua. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Jean, Cecil, Shirley, Wilma and Noreen. Predeceased by siblings Stan, Marion, and Morgan. Special uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. As a long-time proud Stelco employee, working as a Mechanical Foreman at #2 Rod Mill, he was a respected and admired co-worker and friend. Elmer loved life and cherished the memories of growing up on the Bruce Peninsula. He was passionate in sharing its beauty and significance with everyone and was happiest when leading hikes and tours and teaching his family and friends about the places that shaped so much of who he was. He had a remarkable ability to build lasting friendships, whether through time spent with wonderful neighbours, trips with fellow hockey parents, skiing in Ellicottville, his unforgettable Cuban adventures, or cherished moments with his family both here and in the west. Elmer touched the lives of so many, leaving behind a legacy of love and friendship. His warmth, kindness, and genuine nature will remain with us forever. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, January 25, from1:00pm – 4:00pm at McKersie & Early Funeral Home, 14 Main St. E. Milton. An “open mic” will be held at 2:00pm.
