Letter: Ontario Flying Farmers Thank Tobermory for Hospitality

434

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Ontario Flying Farmers, (OFF), we would like to extend our thanks to many people and businesses who welcomed us in Tobermory on Monday September 23rd and Tuesday September 24th. Although the weather did not allow the pilots to fly into the Tobermory airport, twenty three people drove to Tobermory from Lion’s Head, Hanover, Goderich, Kincardine, Southampton, Port Elgin, Peterborough, Welland, Purple Valley, Stratford, and Ethel.

There are several people, businesses, and locations in Tobermory to thank for helping to make the OFF Convention/AGM 2024 a success. First of all, thank you to Mark Coleman, Recreation and Development Manager and Madie Barker, Program Organizer from the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula (MNBP) for helping us plan the itinerary. Madie brought greetings from MNBP as the council members attended the council meeting. Madie also arranged a tour of the St. Edmunds Bruce Museum with tour guide volunteer, Shirley Johnson.

The BBQ lunch and meeting on Monday was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 290. Thank you to Tyler Hayes who donated the Black Angus Peninsula burgers from Riverside Farms on highway 6. Thank you to Dan Mackie, 1st Vice-President of the Tobermory Legion for opening the Legion for us. Thank you to Verna’s Gift Shop, The Sweet Shop, the Shops on Main in Lion’s Head, Peacocks’ Foodland and Princess Hotel for the door prizes.

The OFF were happy with their stay at the Princess Hotel Monday night. Anna, Chef and Operations Manager at Pharohs and the Princess Hotel prepared and served a delicious dinner on Monday night and a morning breakfast on Tuesday to the OFF group.

After breakfast the OFF members toured Bay Street to shop and sightsee. At 1:00 p.m. the group visited Parks Canada Visitor Centre for a video and a tour of the artifacts. Some members managed to walk to the sightseeing deck.

The OFF group would like to thank everyone in Tobermory for their friendliness, hospitality, the good food, and the interesting tours.

Sharron Colter,

on behalf of the Ontario Flying Farmers Team
