BAUER, John Richard “Dick”, 78, of Lion’s Head, Ontario, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Ruth Bauer, and his sister, Elizabeth. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth, his much loved children Robert and Georgeta Bauer, David and Terri Bauer and Virginia and Glenn Duyvestyn, and his cherished grandchildren Maxwell, Marissa, Cameron, Branden, and Rachel. He will be greatly missed by his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Deborah Bauer. Dick was strong, patient, generous, talented, and loving. He had a unique sense of humor and enjoyed a good pun. He also loved making and orchestrating schedules. He was actively involved in music all his life. He played the organ and violin, and he loved to arrange musical scores for his family to play together. Dick was the director of the Bruce Peninsula Spirit Singers choir for several years and he made many close friends there. He also enjoyed wood working, building amazing cabinets and storage units, creating model train layouts, designing embroideries on the computer, and taking vacations and cruises with his children and grandchildren. Where there was a need, he was always there to fill it. Dick was a member of Lion’s Head United Church and had a strong faith. A celebration of Dick’s life was held on Monday November 20, 2023 at 10:30am at Lion’s Head United Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lion’s Head Hospital.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery in Breslau, Ontario for cremation. A service and interment will be held there in the spring.
