The inaugural “Just the Tip” Poker Run took place on August 19th. The motorcycle charity ride was proudly sponsored by The Hungry Hiker, Captain’s Convenience, J.C. Munn Contracting and Munn Excavating.

Covering “just the tip” of the peninsula, the scenic route included stops in Johnston’s Harbour, Dyers Bay, Stokes Bay and Lion’s Head, where riders collected cards in hopes of a winning poker hand.

16 motorcycles with 22 riders participated in the event, raising over $3,200 for Tobermory Primary Place. Post-ride card checking, prizes and refreshments took place at The Hungry Hiker in Tobermory. Joe Pimentel won the highest poker hand, with Susan Edmonstone 2nd and Gilles Kenny third. They all graciously donated their winnings back to the daycare.

A dinner and dance followed at the Tobermory Legion, where the band Rewired from Owen Sound, Ontario entertained the crowd.

“Special thank you to Kathryn Banasik and Shelley Boyer who worked their tails off planning the dinner, the silent auction and booking Rewired… way back in January! And to all our helpers – Brittany Pettigrew, Connor Rouse (who designed the logo), Scott & Dianne Bain, Sean Hurst and everyone at the Tobermory Legion.” said organizer Linda Bain. “We can’t thank everyone enough for showing up, contributing and having fun along side us! Stay tuned for details on next year’s event”.

The 2nd annual “Just the Tip” Charity Ride is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024. The band Rewired will be returning for a full night of fun.
