McLEAN, Cathy – December 1, 1944 to September 13, 2021
McLean, Catharine Mary, nee Widdess, – Cathy was born on December 1, 1944 in Toronto, ON, where she lived most of her life until retiring to her family property in Dunks Bay, Tobermory, ON in 2005. She is survived by her husband John, daughters Lesley (Brad) and Lindsay (Nathan) and four grandchildren Amy, William, Luke, and Eleanor. She passed away peacefully at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto on September 13, 2021.
She will be remembered for her strong opinions, her vast knowledge of so many things, her love of books, and a properly set table, around which she and John often hosted family and friends to share in great food, wine, and conversation. Always ready for a new adventure, she held many jobs and became an expert in many areas; she was a nurse, a teacher, a computer programmer, an Executive Director, a dog trainer, a gardener, an amateur architect/interior designer, and an amazing cook. In retirement, she and John enjoyed spending time at home in Dunks Bay, as well as many tropical sailing adventures with family and friends.
As a committed and loving Mum and Gran she was always available for childcare, advice, and as a mentor in all things to Lesley and Lindsay. Though she will be missed, our lives are forever richer for having shared them with her. A small service will be planned at a later date.
