(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 1, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were on bike patrol when they came across a physical altercation underway near Main Street in Sauble Beach.
Investigation revealed that one of the involved parties was accused of stealing multiple items from a local business.
Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged a 16-year-old youth from Burlington, Ontario with Theft Under $5000. The identity of the charged party cannot be revealed under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The youth was released and must attend the Owen Sound Ontario Court of Justice on September 14, 2021.
VEHICLE OCCUPANTS FACING CHARGES
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 27, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle travelling on Highway 6, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered. The passenger of the motor vehicle was also arrested after the discovery of a suspected controlled substance.
Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 21 year old from Owen Sound, Ontario with the following offences:
-Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs,
-Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and
-Possession of a schedule I substance.
Grey Bruce OPP have also charged a 21 year old from South Bruce Peninsula with:
-Possession of a schedule I substance
Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 5, 2021.
DRIVER FACING CHARGES
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On June 26, 2021, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Grey Bruce OPP stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 170 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.
As a result police charged a 22 year old from Scarborough, Ontario with the following offences:
-Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit
-Dangerous Operation
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 5, 2021. They were also issued a seven-day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.
ALTERCATION RESULTS IN CHARGE
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 17 2021 at approximately 1 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an altercation involving an individual with a weapon on Berford Street in the Town of Wiarton.
Police located the accused on Berford Street and took them into custody.
As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 32 year old from Hanover, Ontario with Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 5, 2021.
