WASSERMANN, Uwe Kurt August 22, 1943 Berlin, Germany – February 10, 2021 Guelph, Ontario. It is with profound sadness that we say our final farewell to Uwe Kurt Wassermann, husband to Elaine (Schmeling), father to Christian (Cathy) and Sonja (Gord), Opa to Kaija and Eden, brother to Ute and uncle to Kerstin (Ulf) and Michael (Carola). Preceded in death by sister Ursel, her husband Gunther and Ute’s husband Manfred. Also much loved by Elaine’s family in Saskatchewan. We celebrate Uwe’s many skills, 110% work ethic, irrepressible humour, love of people, and unselfish willingness to help anyone at anytime. Uwe was a wonderful father and grandfather (Opa), who shared his love of nature, keen sense of history, and disarming wit with his children and grandchildren. Memories of epic trips in the ‘VW bus’ exploring Canada, skiing at Hilton Falls, and kayaking on Georgian Bay, inspired a sense of fun and wonder in all. In their 54 years together, Uwe and Elaine experienced many adventures and treasured their 19 years of retirement on the Bruce Peninsula. Their involvement with the Bruce Trail Conservancy, Peninsula Club, was a highlight that allowed them to give back to the community and maintain and share the natural beauty of the Bruce. For our family and many friends who sustained us on our dementia journey, we are grateful. The loving support of the Owen Sound chapter of the Alzheimer Society Grey Bruce will always be remembered. We welcome donations to the Alzheimer Society Grey Bruce or the Bruce Trail Conservancy. A memorial will be held at a future date once we can get together in celebration of a life well lived.
